International cooperation

Our EMS Academy, “Malteser Bildungszentrum HRS” (MBZ), is located in the center and the south-west of Germany. Founded in 2004, we have trained more than 2.000 EMTs (“Rettungssanitaeter”), Paramedics, and Advanced Care Paramedics (“Notfallsanitaeter”) and have had more than 10.000 participants in our CME classes.

Every year, more than 100 Advanced Care Paramedic students start their three-year vocational education and training with us and more than 250 EMT trainees join our four-month program. We are responsible for the annual Continuing Medical Education of more than 1.500 EMS professionals.

From our HQ in the city of Wetzlar (60 km north of Frankfurt) and our three other academies in Frankenthal, Trier and Korntal, we provide our services and trai­nings to around 100 EMS rescue stations in the Malteser EMS network and our partners from the German Red Cross, several Fire Departments and private EMS companies in four German federal states.

Our goal is to support Emergency Medical Services all over the world with professional vocational training, science- and guideline-based education, and state-of-the-art simula­tions. We offer basic training for EMTs (Emergency Medical Technicians) and Advanced Care Paramedics, Continuous Medical Education (CME), Trainer and Instructor training, certified international courses (e.g. ITLS/ ERC), CRM (Crew Resource Management) classes, and customized trai­ning for MCI (Mass-Casualty-Incidents), A&E (Ambulance and Emergency) personnel, and dispatch centers. We use high-fidelity simulators and modern equipment, and our courses are led by highly motivated, educated, and expe­rienced instructors.
